Sparkles of Imagination

This month, our theme was “All Around the World.” The children explored different countries, and Italy quickly became one of their favourites—especially because of its unique shape, beautiful landmarks, and delicious food!

To bring Italy into our classroom, I created our own “pizzas” using a red-painted circle as the dough and a variety of toppings such as mushrooms, cheese, pepperoni, and broccoli cut outs. The children enjoyed this hands-on invitation during circle time and later at the sensory table.

During play, I spotted a delightful moment with Child G. He carefully slid his “pizza” under the covering board. When asked why, he smiled brightly and replied, “I put it in the oven!” I laughed and sent him a nod to recognize and appreciate his great imagination.

Another wonderful spark of creativity appeared in our outdoor area. A group of children gathered around a large toy car. Instead of riding it, they tried to  “fix” it! They opened the hood, checked the steering wheel, and inspected the wheels. One child proudly announced, “Miss Agnes, we are fixing the car!” Their cheerful voices delighted my day. I smiled and said to them, “Great! Keep working! Let me know if you need any help!”

I love the moment to spot little ones’ imagination and am so grateful when they choose to share it with me. They may not remember these precious times but they will always remain some of  my sweetest  memories.
